Things I have learned since moving to the Desert

1- It is hot.
2- Everything else is hot.
3- It is astonishing how much heat you can take.
4- The Desert really can be pretty. (I will show you tomorrow)
5- My husband really can be handy. (I will show you tomorrow)
6- You car doors will be too hot for your kids to touch.
7- Car seat buckles will be SUPER hot, eventhough they are in your car in the "shade".
8- You CAN actually shop too much.
9- The full length mirrors in the master bedroom ARE NOT good for my self-esteem.
10- Church at 8:00 a.m. is really just too early.
11- My Vitamix makes FABULOUS Pina Coladas. (And probably Virgin Maragaritas.. which I will be attempting soon)
12- There IS another use for coconut syrup other than on my pancakes.
13- Kids take good strong naps here because it is so dang hot.
14- It is actually exciting to see how hot it can get.
15- I am officially in love with IKEA and could stay in there for at least 49 hours.
16- The Desert is even better than I thought it would be.

I remember growing up in SoCal and we had a Chevy Nova with vinyl seats. On a hot day it was torture to sit on those seats...

Look at you Miss Positive. Way to go...look on the bright side, and you have plenty of that with the sun out there!!!!!!! Good luck. I can't stand it so hot, it is absolutely draining. I can't wait to hear more though :)
Thanks...I love my green shirt too! I'm so glad you pointed it out, because I had bought a purple one at the store that I LOVE, but never saw the green one, so I just got that on-line and love it too!!!!!!!!! Thus, I love you for it!! lol.

You will also find out that you cannot do anything outside unless it involves water. :)

I will be there next month. For eight days. Staying at my in-laws'. Ahhh...

For all of us back in the Pacific Northwest - do let us know when you experience rain.

I'm so glad you love it there. Me and HEAT do not get along really well. (I'm a redhead ya know) but my hubby LOVES AZ. He wants to move there badly.
I'm happy to hear you made it, you like and your settling in!

You are making Arizona sound like heaven...It's only been warm for a few days day, my kids want to go swimming and it's only like 80 degrees.

are you sure the pina colada was virgin? Because you just said you could stay in IKEA for 49 hours and I probably couldn't look at that fall apart in a year junk for 4.9 seconds!

Still jealous of anywhere else, USA, though...

PS How's kitty?

Yeah, but it's a dry heat. I hate it when people say that - hot is hot.
Here is a little tip - I have a bunch of hand towels that stay in my suburban. The kidlets know to cover the seat belt latches when they get out and they stay a little cooler. Not cool - just not third degree burn hot. I also have big ice pack that goes with us and when we go in a store it goes in the baby's car seat covered with a towel. When we get ready to go his seat is nice and cool and well as the straps and buckles.
Oh and by November it is cool again!

I was wondering how you were doing with the heat- glad to hear you are liking it. I am enjoying our 76 degree weather here just fine. Although, it is supposed to be 94 by the weekend. At least you have a pool- that makes all the difference!

Hey Lindz...Hang tough in the heat..you will be laughing in my face in 7 months! I like Ikea, I always wondered why you never went to the one we have here but you were always too busy with your Tai Pan runs...

Thanks for commenting on my blog, Lindsey! I will definitely post about why the heck I am living in Nepal, promise. For now, I empathize with you about desert living. I spent too many years in the heat and sand. First Arizona and then Dubai. Each summer I vowed, never again! Try to keep cool!

I just came over from d-dawg's blog...I've read a few of your posts about moving.

I would like to say...welcome to AZ! And thank you for painting it in the best possible light. Just when you think you can't take any more heat, it gets worse...and then it's monsoon season with stormy afternoons/evenings. I LOVE the storms...and sometimes, if you can cut through the humidity, it feels 'cooler' in the morning.

Anyway...welcome!

8am church is just down right evil! It's great to finally catch up with you.

STOP! The heat is affecting your judgement. It is NOT possible to shop too much. I'm on the next flight out. You may need an intervention.
