Stay Tuned

(I AM pregnant with WADE in the picture!!)

My mom showed up for Decorator Prison... (For the 5th time in 6 years- ok, she DID do decorator prison in a few apartments too) and I am finally feeling like I live in my own home (we are renting). I can't believe what a difference decorations make and it is making me feel like a whole new person that actually has some cute stuff! I had been absolutely paralyzed with the inability to decorate since we have moved, so, I am grateful she is here! I think it is just the stress of moving and having done it so many times, it was all I could do to just unpack the stuff we use. Not to mention that I will have to do it again in 1-2 years because we are currently renting.

The funny thing is, I have had most of this stuff since we moved into our first house in Cheney, WA in 2002. My mom and I kept laughing as we would pull stuff out of boxes because we could remember when we first bought it... and for what price! I don't have tons of money to spend on decor, so I pride myself on buying timeless pieces that have great style and show up from house to house and still look great in the process. Now, don't look too closely.. some things are starting to show the wear of moving 5 (or more)times. (We have actually moved 8 times since we were married in 2000... You do the math.)

So, here is a little game... I am going to post a few pictures of our first house.. You look for items that are still with me in my current house..mkay? Good luck!

We are still working on it, so, stay tuned. I am going to give you a COMPLETE run down WITH pictures of my favorite NEW BARGAINS and favorite things I like to look at.

I can't imagine moving so many times in such a short period of time. Glad you got some help from your mom.

I feel like I am at a baby shower doing one of those games where you try to memorize the stuff on the tray to see what gets taken away. I will try to put your home decor to my memory.

I would die (literally) if i moved that much. I bet you are a lot more organized about it than me. It becomes an art, I've noticed. I noticed a few things from the old house but most importantly, did you bring your light fixture with you? If so, what is the significance of that piece? (other than it is pretty of course:)) Not that that isn't enough of a reason.

Um, yes Nat. Are you talking about the lamp? Yep, that has been in ALL houses and it is still here. However, the game hasn't started yet!!! Wait until I post my pictures! Acutally, you CAN already play, because I have a bunch of pictures here..http://pandlfamily.blogspot.com/2008/06/blessed-to-be-alive.html
of my house that I just moved FROM...:)

Nope.. no permanent light fixtures. However, I did have this cool candle chandelier in our kitchen in Sandpoint... You better believe I almost took that.. But I ended up leaving that too...

the two matted and framed photos, the end table, the lamp, the topiaries, the couch and chair-though re-upholstered, the white chairs even though now they are green, the mirror, the cabinet, now yellow, oh and the candlestick holders. How did I do?

does your mom want to start and organizers prison? I need help.

I saw most of the same things Amy did, but also the the cute things on either side of the mirror, the wreath above the entertainment center, I think you still have the boat, the red stool, the iron rod cage that became the bears time out location, the chest under the mirror, is it now green? The large picture of the house and the ?sconces? on the side of it, and the table underneath it. Wow, really, you have a lot of the same stuff. They are great pieces. Good job. I love your style.

I LOVE that you make your mom come help you arrange and decorate your home too. Husbands just can't help arrange pictures and pick paint colors like a mom.

Most of my decor comes from TJ Maxx or some discount store.
