We interrupt this programming to.... CELEBRATE

Jaxon's BIRTHDAY!! Our Jaxon turned 5 yesterday and so, of course, I need to wish him a HAPPY BIRTHDAY and post some pix for our family.
He had an AMAZING day, and when we got up for CHURCH this morning, Jaxon thought he had it made. I asked him to get dressed and he said, "but, Birthday Boys don't have to go to church!" Too bad his birthday was YESTERDAY!!! (He almost had me) If you have yet to meet our Jaxon, or don't know much about him... you need to get to know him.
Click on the Jaxonism Label.. You WON'T be disappointed!

Jaxon has presented us with MANY challenges in life, but also some wonderful blessings. Recently we have decided to put him on a GFCF diet. Don't know what that is? Ugh... I will TELL you what it is.. He can't eat ANYTHING! GFCF is Gluten Free, Casein Free and it proves to be very helpful with Autistic Children. Just so you know, there is Gluten in almost EVERYTHING and for the first few weeks I was paralyzed.. I mean, I LOVE to cook and cooking has GLUTEN IN IT! Just kidding.. but just about everything he eats does. But, we are getting by, and I have clung tightly to a couple of hands and have proven my co-dependence to those who have been there and done that.. Thank you for your help! Ps- That birthday cake up above? I baked it, and it had no WHEAT FLOUR or BUTTER! Totally GFCF.. and everyone ate it. (It wasn't that bad)

Jaxon was a fun, but CRAZY baby... He cured us of having more babies for a while... That has seemed to rub off, but, our love for him has not.

We have high hopes for you Jaxon! I mean, even Michael Phelps was diagnosed with ADD... With your length, competitive spirit and brute determination, you never know, you could be a hero just like him.

I do remember that when you received a name and a blessing from you Dad, he blessed you that you would be an influence for good and that you would be known for that throughout the world.

All I know for sure is that HE has high hopes for you, and WE do too. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Hello, Lindsey!

This is Leah Fotheringham from Holly's ward in Spokane.

First, a big happy birthday to Jaxon. Second, I am so happy to finally post something on your blog! I didn't know my user name forever and finally figured that all out so I can post now.

Jessica A. told me to view her blog a few months ago because someone from BYU was looking for me. I did and then discovered this world (the blogging world) I knew nothing about and found a link to your blog on her blog. You have the most amazingly witty way about you and I have SO enjoyed reading your blog for the last few months at least every other week or so. So thank you for letting me be a lurker until I solved my username and password mystery! You moved before I could let you know I found your darling blog.

My son is on the autism spectrum so I just want to reach through the computer and give you a million hugs. We are sisters in autism and have different journeys, but we know some of the trials we all face. Let me know if you think the GFCF diet helps because I haven't had the courage to try it just yet. And my child will be entering middle school this year!!!! Gulp.

I can't even tell you the heart ache I was experiencing when Chad was 3, 4, and 5. It was a hard time for me for other reasons as well. The good news is that these kids with autism are always growing and developing and learning and changing and never cease to amaze us. We don't take any little thing for granted. Chad is honestly one of my easiest children now. There are still a lot of challenges and so many worries, but how I wish I could have gazed into today when Chad was newly diagnosed. I would give myself a hug and let me know that everything was going to be all right. Chad is the coolest kid and cracks me up and is so happy with life. I love being around him.

Take care and soak in some sun for me.

Love, Leah

Happy birthday to a darling boy!

We are so lucky, Lindsey, to have these uniquely challenged children. My life has been enriched in so many ways and, as hard as it has been sometimes, I am grateful for the things I have learned from my special guy.

Thanks for your openness and positive outlook. Celebrate yourself this birthday too!

Happy Bday to the other Jaxon!! ☺

I bet it is tough cooking with so many limitations... I have a hard time coming up with recipes as is!

You are a great mom- he is adorable.

I hadn't heard he was the new Bachelor!!!! Yeah!!! I will not miss an episode and have been known to watch the same episodes twice. I am just a little obsessed!

You said I looked relaxed in the pics. That is funny because my 2 year old STRESSES me out and you will notice that I have her on a red harness leash thing in public. I get SO many comments/opinions about the leash thing from total strangers. We are quite the spectacle. Maybe I need to post some more accurate pics.

What a wonderful little life to celebrate! Doesn't that smile melt away just about any problem?

The cake looks awesome. Bonus that it tasted great too. I know that is a tough diet and I applaud all the hard work it takes. Keep up the good work.

I'm so sorry about the restricted diet...I can't even imagine how difficult that is to do for yourself (my cupcake loving friend) as well as your family. I so admire you for doing whatever it takes to help your child!! You are awesome!!

About changing fonts on posts...when you are typing just change the font of what word you want in the above settings area...do you know what I mean? At the top of your post there are settings and you can change colors and size...
You never answered me if you got your necklace either...do you like it!!??
